Thank you to Cloverdale
Editor:
As the time draws near for the closing of Antiques & Uniques, I find myself experiencing a multitude of emotions, not the least of which is gratitude for the opportunity to play a role in the business community of Cloverdale. The acceptance and support offered by the customers, vendors, employees, friends and family has been overwhelming and rewarding, and I will always be thankful for the nearly 15 years I have been allowed to provide goods and services to all of you. Without that support, Antiques & Uniques would never have survived the ups and downs of the retail world, but your encouragement provided the strength to persevere.
The store will officially close on January 31st with a celebratory finality, so please stop by so that I might be able to thank you in person for the privilege you have given to me for all of these years.

Thanks for Speakers Series support
Editor:
2013 was a landmark year for the Historical Society’s Speaker Series and we want to thank the community for your support. We produced six unique programs, had record attendance and raised much-needed funds from ticket sales.  The topics were interesting, diverse and educational.  The speakers were well-respected in their fields. The Crocker Inn and Big Four program drew a standing room only crowd, many from out of the area (dare I say Healdsburg?). We are pleased to present high quality programs to the residents of Cloverdale and the north county.
We particularly want to thank volunteers Audrey Espinosa, Louise Morris, Fran Lashinski, Carolyn Adkins, Scott Knight and George Fisher, who help manage the events. We couldn’t do it without you.
Looking ahead, we are planning the 2014 Speaker Series now and have some exciting programs in mind. We hope to see everyone back for the 2014 season.
Funds raised by the Speaker Series go toward supporting the exhibits, programs and events of the Cloverdale Historical Society and help make the museum and History Center accessible to all. Here’s to a great new 2014 season and busy nights in downtown Cloverdale!

Too long to read?
Editor:
It was with dismay when I read last week’s paper to again see the really long “commentaries” and “editorials” where we used to read letters. Letters from concerned citizens who want to express themselves. Maybe the paper no longer receives such letters? In any case, the present, very long columns are, just that, very long.  Maybe a few shorter commentaries with narrower column widths and a couple of pictures to break it up a bit would help.  As it is, this page is now a page I am starting to “skip over.”  Please consider bringing back the letters. I miss them!
