Regarding Paula Wrenn’s column
Editor:
Regarding Paula Wrenn’s column of December 18, while I usually enjoy her musings of trivialities, when it comes to important issues on things that matter, I believe I prefer the opinions of Dick Cheney.

Longtime Cloverdalian is asking for help
Editor:
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Mary Ornbaun Fox. Many of you may know me because I have been a contract letter carrier in Cloverdale for the Post Office for 15 years. I deliver mail in the Hwy. 128-McCray Rd.-Geysers Rd. and Pine Mountain area. I have lived in Cloverdale off and on since 1972, most of which was out Hwy. 128 in our Ornbaun family home, although now I live in town because I am going through a difficult divorce, after a 35 year relationship.
After being free of breast cancer for five years, I was recently diagnosed with cancer in my other breast, which will require 33 treatments, according to my doctors. Because I have no benefits, medical or otherwise, I need to pay people to cover my postal route for me while I go through my cancer treatment and will have no money left to pay any bills. If I don’t do that, there will be no job for me after my treatments have ended. To add to my current state, my dear mother passed away in 2014. I have never made a public plea for help before and it brings tears to my eyes, but I have no safety net whatsoever. I need help financially and I need transportation getting to and from my treatments in Ukiah.
Friends are helping me with setting up a possible fundraiser but there are no details yet. I will keep you all informed.
I’m fortunate that my two sons live in Cloverdale with their young families, including my three year old granddaughter Cassidy Ann, whom I dearly love. I want to fight the cancer and be there for them. Whatever you can spare, will be gratefully appreciated. An account has been set up at the Cloverdale branch of Exchange Bank in the name of Mary (Ornbaun) Fox. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Generous support for Wallace House
Editor:
On behalf of the clients, board members, our dedicated volunteer Intake Coordinators and the Executive Director of Wallace House, I wish to extend our sincere thanks to the generous people in Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Geyserville for their response to our year-end request for program support. Your donations have increased our ability to serve people who are in desperate need of shelter and/or supportive services, especially during this winter season.
I encourage you to visit our website www.wallacehouse.org. You will be inspired by the stories of some of the people we have been able to assist thanks to you. This help is made possible through community support in the form of volunteers, government grants, individual and corporate contributions, as well as partnerships with other non-profit agencies such as Alexander Valley Medical Center, Sonoma County Mental Health and the Veteran’s Administration. Everyone associated with this program is grateful to all who contributed. Thank you.

Whining in my ears
Editor:
It happened again. It is just plane noise. At a pruning workshop at the Garden Oasis on Saturday, the airplane whining started and we had to stop the teaching until the whining went away. You’ve got to be kidding me. That this kind of noise pollution is allowed in our quiet Cloverdale community or any community, blows my mind. I never minded the small local airplane engines for years before but now there is a new kind of engine that is just plain obnoxious. Please return peace to our people and community.
