Editor:
Thank you for the wonderful story about the Windsor Hometown Heroes Military Banner Ceremony in this week’s newspaper. We appreciate you informing our town of the event.
The ceremony was fabulous, as usual. It is such a delightful experience to honor the men and women of Windsor with a banner flying in the Town Green. Every time we drive downtown and see their faces, we remember to say a prayer for the service people to be safe.
We’ve been to all seven ceremonies, yet always have renewed pride to see the honor guards, the presentation of the colors, the wonderful stories told of each family. Jeannie Mitchell is always perfect with her calm, sweet voice. She is the most sincere spokesperson, we love her.
Heather Cullen and the Children’s Community Choir are the “icing on the cake” as they sing the song representing each military branch as the families enter the building and walk the red carpet. Young people to show this respect is heartwarming.
Today, the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard were represented, truly touching.
We applaud the town for recognizing our local heroes.
Thank you to the council representatives, the escorts and everyone who set up and cleaned up. You all added to the glory of this day.
