Editor: I am a senior at Cardinal Newman High School. For the
past few months, I have been working with and helping with the
campaign of Dominic Foppoli, who is running for Windsor Town
Council. I wanted to write and say what a rewarding experience this
has been for me. I have learned so much from working with him. The
reason that I decided to ask Dominic if I could help him on his
campaign is that I too am interested in politics at a young
age.
Dominic is a true inspiration to me, running for a Town Council
position and being so young. One of the things that makes him a
remarkable leader is that he always has new ideas to improve the
way that we do things. Many readers may see members of the campaign
on Thursday nights, when there is a movie playing, passing out hot
chocolate. The hot chocolate is a great way for Dominic to really
get in touch with the people of Windsor and get to know them
better. You may also see members of the campaign on Thursdays while
music is played walking around and getting to know the people of
Windsor. Whenever there is an event the campaign is there to meet
the families of Windsor.
It has been a true joy, for me as a senior in high school, to
see how a campaign is run and all the details that go into planning
for an event. Dominic has been a great mentor to me. He has taught
me so many things that I would not have even thought of in running
a campaign. He took me to my first Town Council meeting, which was
the budget meeting. It was interesting to see how the Town Council
puts the money they are given to use. I have also had the pleasure
of meeting many important people in our community through Dominic,
for example Debora Fudge. I met her many times at the Town Green,
and she has always been very kind and has a great sense of humor. I
have also had the chance to meet Paul Kelley; he is a great man who
is always willing to help with questions that I have concerning
political matters. The experience that I have had in working with
Dominic has been great. Whether we are picking up more hot
chocolate for movie nights on the Town Green or just talking
politics at KC¹s Downtown Bar and Grill, everything that I have
done so far has been incredibly rewarding and will be something I
will never forget. This letter is to say thank you to Dominic for
being such and incredible mentor and a great friend. Thanks for
letting me tag along and teaching me the ins and outs of running a
campaign.
