Are you ready to start the New Year with some game changers? The library has terrific suggestions that will take you and yours up a notch.
For instance, using your library card, you can tap your number and pin into “Discover and Go” on Sonoma County Library’s website, and print free or discounted passes for marvelous museums. Examples include the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa, San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum, Grace Hudson’s place in Ukiah, the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, and even the Napa Valley Wine Train.
For your kids in third through sixth grades, how about registering them in Lego Robotics Classes? The sensor bots will be drag racing as well as Sumo wrestling at our Library on Fridays, Jan. 20 and 27 at 4 p.m. Sign up now; participation is limited.
Along with these two new Library Build Clubs that encourage open-ended creativity are the monthly Lego Club (Jan. 7) and the Tinker Thinkers (Jan. 5). Challenged by addressing specific themes, your youngster also has the possibility of sharing boundless possibilities with others.
And for more creativity, Dance Around the World on Jan. 21. Join Nikola Clay as she teaches your whole family simple dances like La Mariposa, the butterfly dance from Bolivia, Niwawa “Clay Doll” from China, Hoe E Ana, the Canoe dance from Tahiti and the Penguin Dance from down in Antarctica.
Finally, designed just for you, is the class on Jan. 28 that will focus on the basic principles of Ayurveda. The objective of this body science is to treat symptoms naturally by analyzing your mental and physical type and tailoring remedies to fit your individual needs. Preregistration (do it now) is required for this Healthy Living at Your Library series. In addition, by joining the Library’s Healthy Living Club and following the guidelines, you may win a prize.
So, take advantage of the library’s offerings, and give 2017 an awesome start to your best ever year.
