Many of us of a certain age remember learning how to spell “encyclopedia” from Jiminy Cricket. This small Walt Disney character advised us that if we were full of curiosity and wanted to know the answers, we should get the … (sing it with me now … ) E-n-c-y-c-l-o-p-e-d-i-a.

Today this little insect would be singing about your library’s database. Yes, we use Google to answer our questions, but some of the best information is not free or findable through the internet. The 30-plus premium sites listed on the library’s research menu, however, are generally more reliable, and you don’t have to pay – the library does! You get results from newspapers, magazines and journals, and they’re terrific for research. Examples include “Consumer Reports,” “Ancestry.com” and “ReferenceUSA.”

So, for fast, available and secure querying, if you want to know the answer, here is the way: Go to the research menu on the Sonoma County Library website:  www.sonomalibrary.org.  And Jiminy Cricket knows you will – ‘cause (sing it with me!) you’re no fool, no siree!
