Several police and fire agencies will convene Sept. 22 for a Family Safety Fair at the Foss Creek Community Center in Healdsburg, where presenters will provide important safety tips, tricks and resources that all families should have on hand in case of an earthquake, fire or other emergency.
The free event, organized by Kiwanis International, will feature presenters from Cal Fire, the CHP, AT&T, Healdsburg Fire, Healdsburg Police, Healdsburg Electric, Sonoma Bike Coalition, Spoke Folk Cyclery, American Red Cross, Save Lives Sonoma, Bells Ambulance and more.
As September marks emergency preparedness month, knowledge from these resources can be valuable for helping your family become more prepared.
Cal Fire will give a talk on wildfire safety prevention and the CHP will also conduct car seat installations and child car seat giveaways.
Attendees can also get a chance to tour the Healdsburg firehouse, learn how to use a fire extinguisher and learn crime prevention tips from the police department.
Save Lives Sonoma will conduct CPR demonstrations and Bells Ambulance will provide free blood pressure checks.
For the kids, a bike safety rodeo will be set up where riders can learn the rules of the road and win a free helmet. Spoke Folk Cyclery will be on hand to repair bikes as well. There will be game, raffles and a provided lunch.
The event, also sponsored by AT&T and Bear Republic, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1557, Healdsburg Ave., Healdsburg. Lunch service starts at 10:30 a.m.
