Sonoma State University, led by professor Dr. Elizabeth C.
Martinez, will present a Winter 2006 series (Thursday mornings from
Jan. 12 to March 9) on Latina writers as part of the Osher Lifelong
Learning Institute. The various views of Latino culture, Latino
peoples and history will be surveyed through the pages of six
novels, all written in English. Some of the books to be shared
include: Angie Cruz’ “Let it Rain Coffee,” Julia Alvarez’
“In the Time of Butterflies;” and, Graciela Limon’s
“Song of the Hummingbird.” For registration information

Tan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sen. John McCain, Jose Conseco, Maya
Angelou, Lemony Snicket, Toni Morrison and many others – including
Jack London – will be auctioned on Jan. 14 at the 17th annual Jack
London Foundation Auction, to be held at the Sonoma Community
Center (276 E. Napa St) at 12 noon..The event marks the 130th
birthday of Jack London. Proceeds from the auction benefit the
non-profit foundation which is dedicated to promoting the literary
works of London through high school writing contests and other
