Lions to host Tigers on April 14
The Lady Tigers continued to roll in Sonoma County League softball action last week, easily dispatching Sonoma Valley (7-0) and Healdsburg (15-0) in a pair of shutout wins.
Fueled by a potent line-up that features a .381 team batting average and the strength of senior hurler Saja Spearman-Weaver (12-1, 1.23 ERA), Analy has taken its place atop the SCL standings with a record of 4-0 and 13-2 on the season.
At the start of play this week, Analy was a full game and a half ahead of second place Sonoma Valley (2-1) and Petaluma (2-1), followed by Healdsburg (2-2), Piner (1-1), El Molino (0-3) and Elsie Allen (0-3).
The Tigers will resume league play this week with scheduled games at El Molino (April 14, after press time), followed by a non-league home date with Pinole Valley next Monday, April 18 (3 p.m.).  Analy will visit Piner next Tuesday, April 19 (4 p.m.).
The season has not been as kind to the El Molino Lady Lions who remain in hot pursuit of their first season victory. The Lions had just one league outing last week, dropping a tough, 8-5 decision to Piner to fall to 0-11 on the year.
El Mo will be back on the diamond with scheduled home games against Healdsburg (April 12) and Analy (Thursday, April 14). The Lions are a good bet to snap their losing skid next Tuesday, April 19 at Elsie Allen.  All league games start at 4 p.m.
Tigers maul
league foes
Analy kicked off a dominant stretch on April 5 against visiting Sonoma Valley, scoring seven un-answered runs in the first four innings to take command. Spearman-Weaver was in control throughout in crafting a seven-inning, three-hit, five strikeout gem.
Swinging hot bats for the Tigers were Mackenzie Evangelisti (2 for 4, run, RBI), Payton Cords (2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Kaiya Ming (2 for 2, run, RBI), Carson Rasmussen (2 for 4, run, 2 RBIs), Jayde Hill (1 for 3), Makeyla Kraemer (1 for 3), Kelsi Roman (1 for 2) and Peyton Bratton (1 for 1, 2 runs).
It was more of the same two days later at Healdsburg, jumping all over the Greyhounds in an 11-run, first-inning explosion en route to a 15-0 win in five innings. Spearman-Weaver (5 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 6 Ks) was dominant, while top hitters included Ming (3 for 4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Claire Nelson (2 for 3, 3B, run, RBI), Kahealani Lua (2 for 2, 2B, run, 2 RBIs), Evangelisti (2 for 3, 2 runs, RBI), Rasmussen (2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Cords (1 for 4, run, 2 RBIs), Gema Gonzalez (1 for 3, run, RBI) and Gianna Bianchi (1 for 4, run).
Lions fall to Piner
El Molino continued to battle last week with no reward, squaring off with visiting Piner in an April 7 meeting in Forestville.  The Lions held a 2-1 lead after three innings, but the Prospectors struck for two runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth on their way to an 8-5 win.
Freshman pitcher Erika Olson took the loss, while leading hitters were Lily Krauss (3 for 4, 2 3Bs, run, 2 RBIs), Olson (2 for 2, 2B, run), Risa Scott-Smith (1 for 4, run, RBI) and Sierra Fiddler (1 for 1, RBI).
