It’s tournament time for high school girls basketball teams, with both El Molino and Analy logging participation in a pair of weekend events.
The Lady Tigers (5-6) continued a busy pre-league stretch in the Windsor Rumble in the Jungle tourney on Dec. 7-9, winning one of three games played.
Analy opened the tournament on Dec. 7 against highly regarded St. Bernard’s of Eureka, falling to the Crusaders 41-27.  Leading the offensive attack for the Tigers were Isabel Housman (9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals), Alexis Dibene (4 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals), Sierra Atkins (4 points, 1 steal), Claire Brown (3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists), Lauren Lehmann (3 points, 3 rebounds), Lucia Jameau (2 points, 3 rebounds) and Brea Lawrence (2 points, 3 rebounds).
The Tigers squared off in a tight contest with Napa on Friday, digging out of a big early hole only to fall by nine in an eventual 53-44 loss. Aleah Armstrong led all scorers with 12 points and 8 rebounds, while other top contributors were Brown (8 points, 4 boards), Housman (7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals), Dibene (7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 steals), Julie Ambrose (5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Lehmann (3 points, 1 assist).
Analy faced Rincon Valley Christian in Saturday’s getaway game, emerging from a seesaw battle that came down to the wire in an exciting, 31-30 victory. Top scorers included Ambrose (9 points, 1 rebound), Housman (6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals), Brown (5 points, 4 boards, 1 assist), Dibene (4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals), Lehmann (3 points) and two points apiece from Lauren Murnin and Lawrence.
The Tigers will hit the road for upcoming games at Lower Lake (Dec. 13) and Novato (Dec. 22).  Both varsity games start at 7 p.m.        
Lions compete in REIBT
The Lady Lions (1-9) continued to look for wins on the preseason hard-court in a four-game week, starting with a hard-fought 35-30 loss to Fort Bragg on Dec. 5. The Lions competed in the 69th annual Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament in Healdsburg on Dec. 6-9 dropping all three games played.
Sophomore Hayley Sheridan was the top scorer in the REIBT opener on Dec. 6, pouring in 17 points in a 60-33 loss to Justin Siena. There were no other scores reported. 
At press time the Lions were preparing for a Dec. 11 visit to Roseland University Prep, followed by a trip to Novato on Dec. 13 (7 p.m.). El Mo will finish the road swing on Saturday, Dec. 16 in a 4 p.m. tip-off at St. Helena.
