Windsor wins three out of seven gamesĀ

The Lady Jaguars are making up for lost time following a stormy start to the spring softball campaign, turning it up a notch with seven games played in a four day period.
The Jags began the stretch on April 16 with a 5-3 home loss to league rival Maria Carrillo, followed by a 3-1 setback to visiting Rancho Cotate on April 18. Windsor finished up with a whirlwind of action in the Napa Tournament on April 19 and 20, notching wins over American Canyon (4-3) and a pair over Sonoma Valley (7-0, 2-1). Along the way the Jags fell to tourney foes Napa (8-0) and Analy (7-0).
At press time Windsor (3-3, 8-6-1) was preparing for a two-game home-stand, beginning with an April 23 clash with Montgomery, followed by a date with Ukiah on April 25. The Jags will visit Analy in a rematch in Sebastopol on April 30. All games start at 4 p.m.
Jags fall to Pumas, CougarsĀ Ā Ā
The April 16 home tilt with Maria Carrillo was a disappointment from a Windsor standpoint, as the Pumas tallied five runs in the fateful third inning on their way to a 5-3 win.
ā€œThe loss to Carrillo was very disappointing,ā€ WHS coach Morgan Rasmason said. ā€œWe arenā€™t playing consistently and arenā€™t showing up as the same team every time.ā€
Ace hurler Kayla Scott (7 IP, 7 hits, 2 ERs, 3 Ks) pitched well in defeat, while top hitters were Caitlyn Murphy (2 for 3, RBI), Averie Gehrett (2 for 4, 2 runs), Scott (1 for 4), Mele Pearl (1 for 4, 2B), Gracie Hernandez (1 for 1, run), Anis Acevedo (1 for 4, 2B) and Fatima Vigil-Figueroa (1 for 1, 2B). Ā
The Jaguars logged a better effort two days later against visiting Rancho Cotate, as the Cougars avenged a forfeit loss to Windsor in their first meeting to post a 3-1 victory.Ā
ā€œWe competed in the Rancho game; take away our four errors and itā€™s a 2-1 ballgame,ā€ Rasmason noted. ā€œKayla threw a tremendous game with around 120 pitches. I just wish our team wouldā€™ve backed her up.ā€
Hitting safely for the Jags were Savanna Cordova (double), Hernandez (double) and Gehrett (double).
The Jaguars logged three games in Fridayā€™s Napa Tournament, winning two of three on Friday before gaining a split on Saturday.
Pearl and Murphy did an outstanding job in spelling Scott on the mound for the Jaguars, while top hitters on Friday included Kelli Tagnoli (2 doubles), Moana Bullock (2 for 3), Cordova (double) and Hernandez (double), while Nataleigh Johnson made a diving catch in the outfield. The team has been bolstered by the return of catcher Kasandra Jaramillo to the line-up and the leadoff hitting of Gehrett.Ā
