Maddie Pellman took a rip in varsity softball action for the Lady Jaguars. Windsor is coming off a good stretch to improve its overall record to 9-5-1.

Windsor logs three wins; pushes record to 8-4
The Lady Jaguars are heating up on the varsity softball diamond, notching a flurry of wins in a stretch of games that pushed their overall record to 9-5-1.
Windsor (3-2 in league) opened the action on April 10 in a decisive 8-2 NBL victory over visiting Cardinal Newman, claiming non-league wins over Livingston (11-0), and Analy (7-3) in the Napa Tournament on April 14-15.
The Jags played a total of five games in two days, with losses coming against Pinole Valley (6-4) and Benicia (6-0). Windsor played Dixon to a 2-2 tie before the game was stopped.
“The Napa Tournament went fairly well,” head coach Morgan Rasmason reported. “We lost to Pinole Valley but it was a good game and they just out-played us. I really wanted to win the Analy game, since I played against them back when WHS was in the SCL.”
The Lady Jaguars will start a two-game home stand on April 18 (after press time) with a clash with Casa Grande, followed by a Thursday, April 20 date against Rancho Cotate. Both games start at 4 p.m.
Jags turn back Cardinals
Windsor made a strong move into third place in the league standings in a April 10 tilt with Cardinal Newman, busting open a scoreless contest with a five-run explosion in the fourth. It was more than enough support for sophomore winning pitcher Sydney Hage, who limited the Cardinals to just four hits and two runs en route to an 8-2 win.
Swinging hot bats for the Jags were Averie Gehrett (3 for 4, 2B), Anis Acevedo (3 for 3, 2 runs, RBI), Maddie Pellman (2 for 2, run, 2 RBIs), Shay Mendoza (1 for 4, 2 RBIs), Gracie Hernandez (1 for 3, run), Alyssa De Casas (1 for 4, run) and Hage (1 for 4).
The Jags took the field in the Napa tourney on April 14, bouncing back from a 6-4 loss to Pinole Valley with a dominant, 11-0 romp over Livingston.  Windsor ran into some tough pitching in a 6-0 loss to Benicia on Saturday.
“Benicia was the best team we played,” Rasmason said. “They just hit hard and in the gaps. My only disappointment is that we only had two hits. We’re a much better hitting team than that.”
The Jags went on to play Dixon to a rare 2-2 tie in a game stopped due to time and finished the tournament on a strong note in turning back Analy 7-3. Among the many bright spots for the Jaguars was great pitching, with Hage and teammate Kayla Scott splitting time on the slab.
“Sydney pitched a great weekend, throwing three out of five games. Even though she gets charged with the losses, they were great outings and she fielded her position very well. Kayla pitched against Livingston and Dixon,” Rasmason said.
