It was a tough finish to a challenging North Bay League basketball campaign for the Lady Jaguars, dropping games to Cardinal Newman and Ukiah to end the season at 5-7.
Windsor (11-15 overall) is eligible for North Coast Section playoff consideration, but may elect not to apply pending a vote of the team this week.
“We’re 7-7 in Division 2 and eligible to apply,” coach Joe Passalacqua confirmed this week. “However with a record of 11-15 and the way we ended the season these last two weeks I don’t think we’re going to apply. I told the girls to think about it over the weekend and we’d talk on Tuesday.”
Windsor faced a juggernaut Cardinal Newman squad in Santa Rosa on Feb. 6, with the Lady Cardinals holding the Jaguars to single digits in each quarter in powering to a 74-16 rout. Gabby Giddings paced the Windsor offense with five points while Hannah May chipped in four for the Jags.
Windsor closed out the season on Feb. 8 at Ukiah, playing the Wildcats to a tight first half in trailing 18-14 at the break. The ‘Cats gained separation in a 25-12 third-quarter run and held off a late Windsor rally en route to a 50-37 win.
Cecillia Smith led the attack with a team-high 16 points.
