The Lady Jaguars continued their hot start in the ultra tough North Bay League Oak Division, maintaining a spot in third place with one win and a pair of ties.
Windsor (2-0-3, 4-5-3) opened a string of three matches in four days with a 2-1 win over Sonoma Academy before forging hard-earned ties against North Bay powers Montgomery (0-0) and Cardinal Newman (1-1).
At press time the Lady Jags were preparing to resume league play at Analy on Jan. 23 and host Ukiah this Friday, Jan. 25. Both varsity matches start at 6 p.m.
Ladies on a roll
Windsor traveled to Sonoma Academy for their Jan. 15 clash, getting goals from Lola Gugel and Emma Corcoran en route to a 2-1 victory. Emily Moberly gets credit for an assist for the Jags.
The ladies played one of their best matches of the season in a Jan. 17 visit to first place Montgomery, with both defenses digging in for an eventual scoreless tie. Windsor goalie Olivia Holdenried recorded the shutout for the Jaguars.
The Jags finished up a busy week with a Jan. 19 visit to Cardinal Newman, as the teams played to a scoreless deadlock at the half. Each team would find the net after intermission but eventually settled for a 1-1 tie. Alyna Gonzales scored the goal for the Jags, with an assist from Emily Moberly.
Boys fall to Lobos, Cougars
The Windsor boys came up short in a pair of matches last week, starting with a 2-1 loss at Elsie Allen on Jan. 16. Salvador Miranda scored the Jags’ lone goal off an assist from Marius Bossard.
The Jaguars were back on the pitch two nights later against visiting Rancho Cotate, playing the Cougars on nearly even terms before falling 1-0.
Windsor (0-4, 4-7-2) will be back on the field with upcoming home and away matches against Healdsburg (Jan. 23, 6 p.m.) and at Santa Rosa (Jan. 25, 6 p.m.).
