Windsor sends eight athletes to finals; qualifies 10 to NCS
The Windsor High School girls wrestling team turned in a great collective performance at the inaugural North Bay League Championships at Ukiah on Feb. 9, the first crucial step on the road to state.

The Lady Jaguars, who finished with a second-place team total of 202 points – ten less than NBL champion Ukiah – sent eight wrestlers to the finals and crowned four individual league titlists.
Climbing the champion’s podium for the Jags were Carmen Perez, Ivory Osborn, Dulce Chavez and Savannah Burger. Earning second place medals were Alondra Vasquez, Maxine De Mars and Anette De La Pena. Third place medalists included Bianca Correa, Leslie Hinojosa and Rebecca Westmoreland.
All will advance to compete at the North Coast Section Championships on Feb. 15-16 at Albany High School. A top four finish at NCS will mean a trip to the Girls State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield on Feb. 21-23.
The outstanding performance at the NBL tournament stamps the team primed and ready for the upcoming NCS meet, the final step on the road to state.
“These girls are making their final adjustments for NCS,” Jags coach Rich Dixon reported. “I can never preach enough about having the right mindset and strategy for each opponent we will face this weekend.”
