Cloverdale will compete in Healdsburg’s REIBT this week 
The Lady Eagles kicked off the preseason schedule in earnest last weekend
at the Head Royce Tournament in Oakland, winning one of two games played.

Cloverdale (1-1) opened the tourney with against an over-matched Oakland Military Institute team on Nov. 29, racing to a 24-0 after one en route to a 60-8 romp. Leading the scoring attack were Maci Hernandez (14), Kaylee King (13), Ahnna Randolph (9), Tehya Bird (9), Kayli Persons (5), Marina Lopez (4), Alyssia Moffett (4), Catherine Driver (3) and Morgan Sceales (1).
The ladies squared off with host Head Royce in the tourney title game on Nov. 30, taking a comfortable 29-19 lead at the half. The Eagles went cold in the second half, as the Jayhawks surged into the lead en route to a 47-44 win.
Bird was sensational in earning all-tourney honors with a team-leading 30 points. Other top scorers included Persons (6), Driver (5), Hernandez (2) and Randolph (2).
Scheduling notes
Next up for the Eagles is the 70th annual Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament in Healdsburg on Dec. 5-8, opening up on Thursday, Dec. 6 in a 7 p.m. tip-off against Ukiah.
