Cloverdale adds three wins; pushes overall record to 18-4
The Lady Eagles maintained the top spot in the NCL 1 basketball hierarchy this week, claiming three more victims in pushing their first-place record to 10-0.

Cloverdale (18-4 overall) soundly defeated Middletown (62-43), Kelseyville (62-52) and Fort Bragg (53-38) to extend their league-leading record to a full two games.
At press time the ladies were preparing to resume league play at home against Lower Lake on Jan. 30, followed by a Friday, Feb. 1 visit to Willits. The varsity tips off at 7 p.m.
Eagles score wins
Cloverdale paid second-place Middletown a visit in a critical Jan. 22 tilt, taking charge in the first half to lead 34-17 at the break. There was no let-up in the final two quarters as the Eagles cruised to a 62-43 rout. Pacing the offense were Tehya Bird (25 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), Kayli Persons (11 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal), Marina Lopez (11 points), Maci Hernandez (4 points), Alyssa Moffett (4 points, 2 steals), Catherine Driver (3 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals), Morgan Sceales (2 points, 4 rebounds) and Ahnna Randolph (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal).
The girls played host to Kelseyville on Friday, again jumping out to a key, 24-5 first-quarter lead en route to a 62-52 win.
Bird turned in a sensational performance (37 points, 18 boards, 2 assists, 5 steals), while other top contributors were Persons (13 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals), Lopez (5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals), Driver (5 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), Sceales (4 points, 2 rebounds) and Hernandez (4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals).
“It was a good win,” Eagles coach Rick Berry said. “They’re a quality team and it put us up three games on them.”
Cloverdale was back on the court in a Jan. 28 trip to Fort Bragg, holding the Timberwolves to single digits in three of four quarters in a 53-38 victory (no stats available).
