Kirby Blake Tubb passed away June 10, 2017 from complications of esophageal cancer at age 66.
She was born in Palo Alto and raised in Redwood City. She was proud to be the first in her family to graduate from college with a degree in nutrition from San Jose State. She followed this with an internship at Indiana Medical Center which led to her certification as a Registered Dietitian.
She worked at Stanford University, San Diego City Schools and St. Helena Unified School District where she retired in 2016 after 23 years as the Director of Food Service. From 1985 to 1991 she co-owned and operated the Plaza Grill in Healdsburg with her husband Jim. She built a loyal following for her fresh, flavorful and creative dishes.
She had a lifelong love of fine food, good wine, gardening and animals and loved to travel.
She is survived by her husband Jim, sister Kim Blake, stepsons Alan Tubb and Roger Tubb, daughters-in-law Ruth and Karen as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
