Kathryn Black, beloved wife of Hugh Black and loving Mother of 5-year-old Ashley Marie Black,

was taken much too early on March 28, 2005 as the victim of a
tragic accident on Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. She was 43
years old. Born and raised in Jackson Heights, New York, she moved
to Oahu, Hawaii in 1992, where she met and married her husband,
gave birth to Ashley, and lived happily for 10 years. Three years
ago, the family trekked to California and settled in Clearlake.
‘Kat’, as she was called affectionately by her husband, was always
very high-spirited and would never hesitate to speak her mind. She
loved life and all it had to offer, especially the sun, sand, and
water. Her greatest joy was family and raising precious Ashley. Her
big heart touched many lives and she will be missed immensely by
her loving family and innumerable friends. She is also survived by
her loving mother, Louise Read, and nephew Jayson Read, both of New
York; mother-in-law Bette-Jean Black; father-in-law and
mother-in-law Ron and Lynn Darst; brother-in-law and sister-in-law
Andy and Malika Black, all of Windsor, and many aunts, uncles, and
cousins. She also leaves her adoring boxer dogs, Buddy and Maggie.
Kathryn was predeceased by her father William J. Read and brother
Jay M. Read. Family and friends paid their respects during a
Visitation on Sunday, April 3, at the Chapel of Romano’s Windsor
Mortuary. A Requiem Mass officiated by Father Angelito Peries was
celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday,
