Author and Sonoma State University Professor Jonah Raskin will
give a presentation on Allen Ginsberg’s poem, “Howl,” on Wednesday,
April 20 in the library of the Santa Rosa Junior College’s Petaluma
campus. Raskin, until recently a West County resident, will read
from his book about the famous poem, which is titled, “Allen
Ginsberg’s Howl and the Making of the Beat Generation.” Raskin
explains the context of politics and literature in which it was
written and give new portraits Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William
Burroughs. Raskin is chair of communication studies at SSU and also
the author of “For the Hell of It: The Life and Times of Abbie
Hoffman.”
Last call for “Pick of the
Vine”
This is the last mention we’ll be making of the gala wine and
food tasting event at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa this
Saturday, April 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The “Pick of the Vine” event
benefits the Sonoma County Ombudsman Program of Senior Advocacy
Services. The tasting features 35 Russian River Wine Road wineries
