Joan K. Pollock was born in Chicago August 31, 1931. She is
preceded in death by her parents, Helen Hounshell and James Ross
Kirkwood; brother John Kirkwood; twin sister Ann Ross Mowery. She
is survived by her brother William Kirkwood of Huntington Beach;
sons Michael (Julie) Pollock of Cupertino; Lt. Col. Steven (Zena)
Pollock of Colorado Springs; daughter Susan (Andrew) Ward of
Windsor; grandchildren Daniel and Aimee of Benicia; Derek,
Cristina, and Kimberly of Colorado Springs; and Ryan, Rachel and
Jennifer of Windsor. Joan worked for Contra Costa County Hospital
as a Registered Nurse in the emergency room, and as a Shift
Supervisor. She worked as a supervising nurse at Contra Costa
Richmond Clinic for years before retiring. Joan also worked in
Saudi Arabia and the Kaiser call center in Walnut Creek. Her
co-workers admired her professionalism, her cool disposition and
respected her judgment as an R.N. She lived in Oakland, Calistoga,
Crockett, Benicia and recently, Windsor. Joan had style and a great
sense of humor. She will be missed by her family and friends. A
memorial mass was held at 11 a.m. on June 26 at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help, 901 Washington Street, Calistoga. Donations may be
made to your favorite charity.
