James R. Sarzotti, 95, entered into rest June 10, 2004 in
Cloverdale. James, a native of Healdsburg, was the beloved husband
of 73 years to Catherine A. Sarzotti of Healdsburg; father of
Gloria Opperman of Healdsburg and James (Sharon) Sarzotti of
Belmont; grandfather of Kim Opperman, David Opperman III, Brian
Opperman, Marc Opperman, Kara Eddinger, Kathryn Castellani, Teresa
Sarzotti, Elizabeth Shiel and Ann Marie Rankine; great-grandfather
of Blair, Lauren, Paige, David IV, Ashley, Brian Jr., Andrew,
Stephen, Jordan, Mallori, Whitney, Jenna, Maxwell, Logann, Christy,
Aaryn, Alexis, Rachel, Jake, and the late Austin Haworth. James was
a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Y.M.I. He was an
avid gardener, a strong role model and a gentle and kind man.
During the Depression he was a farmer. In later years, Mr. Sarzotti
was a building superintendent for the Healdsburg Unified School
District with 25 years of service. A funeral mass was held at St.
John’s Church on Tuesday, June 15. Burial was at Oak Mound Cemetery
in Healdsburg. Memorial donations in Mr. Sarzotti’s name may be
made to the Memorial Fund for Austin Haworth, 217 Fitch Street,
Healdsburg, CA 95448 or Sutter VNA Hospice, 1110 North Dutton
Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95401-4606.
