James R. Neeley died Feb. 15, 2008. He was 67. He was born in
1941 to Edith and James K. Neeley and was a fifth generation Sonoma
County pioneer who was known for his community service throughout
Sonoma County and the Russian River.
Neeley attended Guerneville Elementary School, Analy High School
(Class of 1959), Santa Rosa Junior College (Class of 1961.) He also
attended Armstrong College, Berkeley; Golden Gate University at San
Francisco and attained two lifetime California teaching
credentials.
Neeley taught at SRJC for five years and various community
colleges in Hawaii. Neeley was a tax accountant and business
consultant for 35 years with clients throughout Sonoma County.
Neeley served on the Russian River Fire District Board of
Directors for many decades and he was a district chairman of the
Boy Scouts of America and served on the Sonoma Mendocino Area
Council. Neeley was very proud to be an Eagle Scout.
He was also a member of several Sonoma County clubs and
organizations including the Santa Rosa Jaycees, the Free Masons,
and Guerneville Rotary as secretary and past president.
Neeley is survived by his wife Andrea, his son Clark and
daughter-in-law Jennifer, and three granddaughters Bridgette,
Natalie, and Sophia.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at
Oddfellows Hall in Guerneville. Memorial donations may be made to
the Russian River Fire Fighters Association, P.O. Box 367,
Guerneville, CA. 95446.
