James Joseph Zappelli II, 68, passed away in his Santa Rosa home
on Friday, January 14, 2005, after a short battle with cancer.
James is the devoted husband of Madeline Zappelli of Santa Rosa;
the son of Clara Caron of Santa Rosa; the father of Vicky Zappelli
of Washington, Nadine Zappelli of Santa Rosa, James Zappelli III
and his wife Barbara of Santa Rosa, Pamela Zappelli of Clearlake,
Quin Zappelli and his wife Michelle of Santa Rosa, Suzette Noren
and her husband Lars of Santa Rosa, Samantha Zappelli and her
husband Marc Rodriguez of Santa Rosa; the grandfather of Davey
Zappelli, Byron Zappelli, James Zappelli IV and his wife Suzy,
Renee Buchanan, Nicholas Zappelli and his wife Carly, Charles
Erwin, Amanda Noren, Katelynd Noren, Lars Noren, Brooke Rodriguez,
Angelina Zappelli, Haily Zappelli, Hannah Noren, Sebastian
Rodriguez; the great-grandfather of Ramon Zappelli, Shannon
Zappelli; the brother of Dolly Davis, Fred Zappelli and his wife
Jan, Amellia Kirby, Margo Davis, Micheal Zappelli, Marsha Walker
and her husband John, Johnny Caron and his wife Debbie; and the
nephew of Helen Berizzi. James is preceded in death by his son
Warren Gilbert Zappelli. James was born in Santa Rosa, the son of a
Swiss-Italian immigrant. He was raised in Geyserville and was a
lifelong resident of Sonoma County. In his youth, he was proud to
work in the vineyards and orchards for his uncle Victor Berizzi. He
later worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in 1955. Jim also worked
for Lou Saare before he opened Zappelli’s Auto Body with his wife
Madeline in 1958. He was proud of his business and for being a
provider of outstanding service to the community for 47 years. One
of Jim’s great passions was gardening. He enjoyed seeing the
independent landscaping work he had completed throughout the years
all over Sonoma County. He also enjoyed abalone fishing, clamming,
hunting, fishing, working on the ranch, prune and mushroom picking,
barbequing, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was
a member of the Eagles, the Druids and the Italian Federation. A
visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Daniels
Chapel of the Roses from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be held at
the Daniels Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa on Friday, January
21, 2005 at 11 a.m. Entombment will be held at Santa Rosa Memorial
