James Edward Imand Sr. was born in Miami, Florida, on June 2, 1929, and entered into Heaven on December 20, 2016, at the age of 87, having had a long and prosperous life. As a youngster, football was his passion and he played at Miami High School. He then earned a football scholarship to play at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he graduated with a History Degree. Since 1960 the Oakland Raiders have been his team through good and bad! Also a Warriors fan. Upon graduating in 1951, he voluntarily enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years, with 1 year spent in Korea as an Air Intelligence Technician. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation for his service maintaining the Wings War Room containing target and classified data. He loved his country and flew the flag daily since the first Gulf War. Devoted husband of Phyllis for 61 years, meeting on a blind date in 1953, they were married in 1955 in Minot, North Dakota. In 1957, they moved to Denver, Colorado, and Jim was hired at Montgomery Wards Mail Order Plant, where he was promoted to several managerial positions. He left the company in 1965 as Assistant Operations Mgr., supervising upwards of 700 employees, to join McGraw-Hill Book Company in New Jersey. Subsequently he was promoted and, with his family, relocated to Novato, CA. After a long successful career, he retired in 1990 as the West Coast Regional Vice President. Jim loved God, his family, sports, gardening and traveling, having visited all 50 states as well as Tahiti, Vancouver BC and his favorite annual trip to CABO. Jim was a Sonoma County resident for 46 years, living in Windsor for the last 24 years. Jim is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, beloved father to Carrie (Ron) Myers, Jim Imand, Jr. (Nancy decea sed), Jennifer (Kevin) Krush, Carla Jean (infant deceased) adored grandfather to Heather and Todd Imand, D.J., Christa, and Casey Myers. Jim will be remembered for his integrity, hard work, steadfast love and devotion to family. Neighbors enjoyed Jim singing and whistling while working in his yard. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sonander and St. Joseph Hospital Hospice for providing loving care for Jim our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 18th at 11:00 a.m. @ Spring Hills Community Church, 3700 Fulton Road, Santa Rosa.
