Windsor gains split; on bubble for NCS playoffs
The Jaguars will be looking to extend their season as they close out the North Bay league schedule this week with a pair of games.
At press time the Jags (5-7, 10-12) were sitting squarely on the bubble for North Coast Section playoff consideration and may need a strong finish to land a spot in the Division 2 tournament, which starts in two weeks.
The Jaguars will wrap up NBL play with home and away games beginning on May 10 against visiting Montgomery, followed by the league finale at first-place Casa Grande on Friday, May 12. Both games start at 4 p.m.
Jags gain split
Windsor is coming off an up-and-down stretch on the league diamond, starting with a May 3 home clash against Santa Rosa. The Jags took an early lead they would not relinquish, pushing across one in the first and two in the second. Leading 3-2, the Jaguars tacked on a combined five runs in the fifth and sixth innings en route to an 8-2 win.
Pacing the Windsor hitting corps were Tanner Kane (1 for 3, 2B, 2 runs, RBI), Joey Pignataro (1 for 3, 2B, RBI), Toli Partida (1 for 3, 2B, RBI), Chris Berndt (1 for 2, RBI) and JT Stadum (1 for 2, RBI).
The Jaguars turned in a forgettable outing in Friday’s road clash at Cardinal Newman, with the Cardinals busting open a tight ballgame with an 8-run uprising in the fourth on their way to an eventual 13-0 rout.
