Senior Tyler Hellums fires no-hitter against El Molino
The varsity baseball Jaguars logged an historic week on the high school diamond, notching two wins and a rare tie in a busy string of action.
Windsor began the stretch on March 12 with a 3-3 tie at Concord, a see-saw battle that was called in the 11th inning due to darkness. The Jags were back on the field the following day to post a 12-2 NBL rout at Healdsburg, and finished the week on Friday with a 10-0 win at El Molino.
Senior pitcher Tyler Hellums etched his name in the school history books in the win over the Lions, firing a complete-game no-hitter.
The Jaguars (2-1, 3-1-1) will take a brief break from North Bay League competition this week when they compete in the annual A.L Rabinovitz Tournament hosted by Montgomery on March 19 and 20.  Windsor will visit Ygnacio Valley next Monday, March 25 (4 p.m.) and resume NBL action on March 28 at Piner (4 p.m.).
Busy stretch
Windsor traveled to Concord for a March 12 non-league clash, riding the strong arm of sophomore Gary Hall (5 IP, 3 hits, 7 Ks) to trail 1-0 after five innings. Sophomore Carson Ramocinski ripped a run scoring triple in the sixth to send it into extra frames knotted at 3-3.  The Jags struck for a pair of runs in the eighth inning, but the Minutemen would answer with a pair of their own to keep it tied at 5-all. The game was eventually called in the 11th inning due to impending darkness.
Pacing the Windsor attack were Hall (2 for 5, run), Joseph Soltanizadeh (2 for 4, 2B, 2 runs, RBI), Ramocinski (2 for 5, RBI), Nick Pariani (1 for 1), Matt Kemper (1 for 3, RBI), Cameron Hayman (1 for 4) and Cy Soltanizadeh (1 for 5).
It was all Windsor in the March 13 visit to Healdsburg, as pitchers Devon Reynolds (4 IP, 3 hits, 2 ERs, 3 Ks) and Francis Freenor (3 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 5 Ks) joined forces in a 12-2 rout. Leading hitters were Ramocinski (3 for 5, 2 2Bs, 6 RBIs), Cy Soltanizadeh (3 for 4, 2B) and Joseph Soltanizadeh (2 for 3, 2B).
Windsor capped the week in style in Friday’s visit to El Molino, as Hellums was nearly un-hittable in a great pitching performance. The senior went the distance, yielding no hits and no runs while walking five and fanning seven to notch a 10-0 victory.
“Tyler came off the mound in the fifth and was struggling with a tight groin, but I wasn’t going to let him miss an opportunity at a no-hitter,” Jags coach Dave Avila said. “We kept him stretching when possible and after the sixth, I knew there was no way I was taking him out.”
Swinging hot bat for the Jags were Ramocinski (3 for 3, 2 runs), Hayman (3 for 4, HR, 2 runs, 4 RBIs), Hall (2 for 4) and Cy Soltanizadeh (1 for 4, HR, run, 3 RBIs)
