Windsor in midst of busy off-season program
The foundation of every successful high school basketball team is a rigorous off-season program that emphasizes strengths and exposes weaknesses.
That has been the focus for the Jaguar’s varsity squad this summer, as the team continued an ambitious schedule on July 16-17 in the annual Windsor Shootout Basketball Tournament.
Participating teams included Cardinal Newman (2 teams), Marin Catholic, El Molino, Rancho Cotate, Analy, Healdsburg, Roseland Prep, Novato, Maria Carrillo, St. Vincent, Point Arena, Ukiah and Petaluma.
Windsor had a good showing in three games played, recording wins over El Molino and Rancho Cotate, with their loss coming to St. Vincent (no scores reported).
Top teams at the tourney were Cardinal Newman (4-1), Healdsburg (4-1) and Marin Catholic (4-1).
In all, the Jags have played in three tournaments and 13 games in the past two months, stressing fundamentals, and both individual and team growth.
“It’s been a productive summer,” head coach Travis Taylor reported following the Windsor tourney. “We participated in three very competitive tournaments and the players improved individually and collectively along the way.”
The summer varsity roster includes incoming seniors Brock Tolson and Ethan Wright. Juniors are Justin Smith, Riley Smith, Travis Carlozzo, Tanner Tobon, Uly Vielma, Troy Enriquez, Kyle Bozzetto and AJ Whaley.
