Emerging talent – Top wrestlers at the annual Novice Tournament on Saturday included Windsor’s Jose Morfin and Maxine DeMars.

The Windsor High School wrestling team kicked off the winter campaign in earnest last weekend, sending a strong contingent of athletes to the annual Novice Tournament in Healdsburg.
The event was a showcase for budding talent, with the meet serving as the first taste of high school competition for underclassmen.
“It was a great day to start wrestling again this season for some of our young and new wrestlers,” WHS head coach Rich Carnation reported. “All our wrestlers are progressing and getting better and we’re excited for them to get a chance to try their new skills. We’re excited with their progress as they all wrestled with lots of excitement and enthusiasm.”
The Jaguars will be back on the mat on Saturday, Dec. 9, when the varsity travels to the San Marin Green & Gold Tournament, while the JV competes in the Elsie Allen tourney.
