Windsor pushes record to 10-9
The varsity baseball Jaguars stayed on track for a possible North Coast Section playoff berth with two wins in four outings last week.
The Jags (3-7, 10-9) began a busy stretch with a 4-2 win over Santa Rosa, followed by a 14-10, nine-inning loss to Cardinal Newman. Windsor fell to league-leading Maria Carrillo, 13-4, but finished the week with a 6-4 non-league victory over Irvington.
The Jaguars enter the final phase of the league schedule this week when they visit Rancho Cotate on Wednesday, May 4, before playing host to Casa Grande this Friday, May 7.  Windsor will wrap up the NBL season with home and away dates against Montgomery (May 11) and at Ukiah (May 13). All games start at 4 p.m.
Senior hurler Sam Penning (6 IP, 5 hits, 2 ERs, 3 Ks) notched the win over Santa Rosa on April 25, while Mat Silva (3 for 4, 2 B, 2 runs, RBI) and Travis Broadhead (2 for 3) paced the bat attack.
The April 27 meeting with Cardinal Newman was a barn-burner, as the teams combined for 26 hits and 24 runs before the Cardinals emerged with a 14-10  win in nine innings. Hunter Disidoro (5.1 IP, 8 hits, 6 ERs, 6 Ks) pitched well in a no decision, while top hitters were Silva (3 hits), Joey Pignataro (2 hits, 2B) and Ethan Wright (2 hits).
