Turning a pair – Windsor second baseman Ian McGee threw to first base in an attempt to complete a double play in a preseason scrimmage at St. Vincent.

The Jaguars didn’t have to wait long for their first official baseball win of the season, notching a dominant 9-1 victory over visiting Healdsburg on Feb. 27.
Originally scheduled for March 2, the game was moved up a couple of days due to imminent rain.
Windsor will resume preseason play on March 6 (after press time) against visiting Terra Linda and will square off with Kelseyville on Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m. in the first game of a double-header at El Molino. The Jags will face the Lions in the nightcap at 3 p.m.
Starting pitcher Tyler Hellums did not disappoint in his spring debut against the Greyhounds, setting the tone by fanning the side after the first pair of batters reached base. The Jaguars mounted a big rally in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a booming two-run double off the bat of Cameron Hayman and RBI singles from Hellums and Cyrus Soltanizadeh for a 5-0 lead.
Windsor struck again in the home half of the second, as Hayman singled, followed by RBI doubles from Hellums and Soltanizadeh. Reece Arreguin laced another run scoring knock to make it 8-0.
Windsor answered a Healdsburg run in the fifth with one more insurance tally in the following frame when Patrick Tappin doubled and later scored on a roped double to lead off the inning and later scored on an error as the Jags coasted to a 9-1 win.
Hellums tossed five innings of one-hit ball, yielding no earned runs while fanning nine to record the victory. Also seeding mound time were relievers Patrick McGee (1 IP, 0 ERs, 1 K, 2 BBs) and Eric Begley (1 IP, 0 hits, 0 earned runs).
Top hitters were Soltanizadeh (3 for 4, 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Hayman (2 for 4, 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Hellums (2 for 4, 2B, 2 runs, RBI), Nick Pariani (1 for 4), Carson Ramocinski (1 for 3, run), Tappin (1 for 3, 2B, 2 runs) and Tanner Tobon (1 for 1).
