Windsor High School head football coach Kevin Ballatore stepped down from the post this month in a surprise announcement after just one year at the helm.
Although Ballatore declined to go into detail on the reason for his decision, he did take time to reflect on his tenure at Windsor.
“I’ll miss every player and student that I’ve been blessed to work with this past year,” he said. “The decision hurts, as coaching these young men has been an absolute pleasure.”
Ballatore made the most of his lone season at the helm, guiding the Jaguars to an overall record of 5-6 and advancing to the semifinals of the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs before falling to eventual champion Campolindo.
Former Windsor High School Athletic Director Jeff Hardie expressed praise and admiration for the departing coach. “Kevin was full of energy, ideas, positive attitude and was passionate for football and the students he worked with,” Hardie said. “He was the perfect fit for WHS and we’re heartbroken it didn’t work out.”
The search is now on for Ballatore’s replacement and a decision is expected to come within a month.
