Junior Lucas Chung stamps ticket to CIF State meet
Junior cross country standout Lucas Chung added another chapter to an already impressive high school resume on Saturday at the North Coast Section Championships in Hayward, finishing sixth overall in the Division 3 race to stamp his ticket to the state meet.
Chung will represent Windsor at the prestigious CIF State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno this Saturday, Nov. 25.
Competing on the 3.0-mile Hayward High School course, Chung negotiated the NCS race in a fast 15:45. Other strong efforts for the Jaguars included Hunter Larson (33rd, 16:42), Michael Freitas (89th, 18:10), John Cionci (99th, 18:27) and David Kvamme (115th, 19:31).
Pacing the varsity girls were Erin O’Mara (61st, 20:35), Jayda Pignataro (98th, 21:50), Nataleigh Johnson (101st, 22:09) and Kaliana Brown (103rd, 22:15).
