Windsor maintains second place in NBL standings
The Jaguars notched one of their grittiest wins of the 2016-17 soccer campaign on Jan. 20, scoring the winning goal in the final minute of play to emerge with a 1-0 victory over visiting Rancho Cotate.
The win kept the Jags (4-1-1, 7-3-2) on pace in their march toward a likely North Coast Section playoff berth with a record of 7-3-2, and keeping them all alone in second place behind unbeaten Montgomery with a mark of 4-1-1 in the NBL.
Next up for Windsor is a Monday, Jan. 23 visit to Maria Carrillo (6 p.m.), followed by a Wednesday, Jan. 25 home clash with Ukiah (7 p.m.). The Jaguars will travel to face Santa Rosa this Friday, Jan. 27 in a 6 p.m. varsity start.
The Jan. 20 meeting with a tough Rancho squad was a test of will from the start, with both teams unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities for most of the first two periods.
Windsor finally broke the deadlock with time winding down late in regulation; as senior Dylan Eddy scored to lift the Jaguars to a 1-0 win. Credit goalie Leo Bossard with the shutout for the Jags.
