The varsity baseball Jaguars stayed in contact with the .500 mark in a pair of recent North Bay League road outings, combining a 15-3 romp over Cardinal Newman with a 6-1 loss at Montgomery.
The mixed bag pushed the Jags’ league record to an even 3-3, and extended their overall season mark to 8-8.
Windsor will begin a two-game home-stand on Wednesday, April 19 in a battle with perennial power Casa Grande, followed by a Friday, April 21 home tilt with Rancho Cotate. First pitch in both games is 4 p.m.
Jags pound Cardinals
The April 12 visit to Cardinal Newman featured a slow start and explosive finish as the teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first three innings. The Windsor bats erupted in the fourth, with the Jaguars’ first eight batters reaching base in an eventual, nine-run uprising. It was all she wrote for the Cardinals, who collected just four hits all afternoon off winning pitcher Tanner Kane as the Jags powered to a 15-3 rout.
Top hitters for Windsor included Toli Partida (4 for 5, 2B, RBI), Tyler Hellums (2 for 3, 2B, 3 RBIs), Kobe Roman (2 for 4), Patrick Tappin (1 for 4, 3B, RBI), Chris Berndt (1 for 4, 3B, 3 RBIs) and Joey Pignataro (1 for 2, 3B, RBI).
The Windsor offense was relatively quiet in an April 14 trip to Montgomery, unable to mount a serious threat as the Vikings cruised to an eventual 6-1 victory.
