Windsor battling for playoffs in final stretch
The Jaguars will begin an all-out push for a spot in the post-season dance this month entering the final four games of the regular season.
At the start of play this week, Windsor stood in sixth place in the North Bay League standings at 4-6 and 9-11 overall, with upcoming dates home dates against Santa Rosa (May 3) and Cardinal Newman (May 5) on the docket.
The Jags will close out the league campaign with home and away dates with Montgomery (May 10) and Casa Grande (May 12). All games start at 4 p.m.
The Jaguars are coming off an even split in a pair of NBL outings, rebounding from a 3-2 loss at Anton Stadium in Ukiah on April 26 with a 4-2 win at Maria Carrillo on Friday.
Friday’s win over defending league champion Maria Carrillo was a welcome result, considering the Jags dropped a 12-3 decision to the Pumas in the first season meeting last month.
The Jags would not be denied this time around, as winning pitcher Eric Begley benefited from Windsor’s nine-hit attack. The game was knotted at 2-2 when the Jaguars pushed across a pair of runs in the decisive seventh inning to pull out a 4-2 victory. Pacing the Windsor hitting corps were Tanner Kane (4 for 4, 2B, RBI) and Tyler Hellums (2 for 3, 2 runs).
