Jack E. Woods, 89, of Sebastopol died on Dec. 19 in Santa Rosa.
Devoted husband of Florence Woods of Sebastopol. Cherished father
of Larry Woods and his wife Jean of Santa Rosa and Jerry Woods and
his wife Kathy of Fresno. Adored grandfather of Bryan Woods of
Santa Rosa, Annette Cuthrel of San Francisco, Scott Woods of
Visalia, and Katie Woods of Fresno. Beloved great-grandfather of
Brent Woods, Sean Woods, Austin Woods and Madison Woods. A member
of SIRS, Santa Rosa. Jack was born in Redmond, OR and later moved
with his family to Emmett, ID. He attended and graduated from
Moscow University. He fought in World War II on an attack
transport, achieving the rank of Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy.
Jack married Florence Baird, and they were married for 65 years.
For 35 years, he worked as an area conservationist for the U.S.
Department of Agriculture until his retirement on April 1, 1983.
Jack enjoyed woodcarving with his sons, golfing, fishing and
hunting. Memorial contributions may be made to Sebastopol Community
Church.
