William Garvin (Jack) Cheshier, 72, of Sebastopol, died on Dec.
30 in Sebastopol several days after suffering a heart attack. Born
in Yuba, Oklahoma, Jack lived in Sebastopol for more than four
years, after having lived in Ripon for 45 years. He is survived by
his wife of 39 years, Genevieve (Jennie) Cheshier and children,
Julie (Oli) Frankle of Sebastopol, Cindy Caetano of Ripon and
Garvin (Linda) Cheshier of Modesto, Christina (Forrest) Beaty of
Forestville. He also leaves grandchildren Leah and Matt Johnson,
Eric Cheshier, Melanie Caetano, and Jennifer and Michael Lilly, as
well as great grandchildren Joylin and Garrett Johnson and Isabelle
Lilly. He is survived by his sister, Hazel (Edward) Farmer of Taft,
sister-in-law Juanita Cheshier and many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents Garvin and Ann Cheshier and
brother Thomas Cheshier. Jack was proud to be a Teamster and drove
for Consolidated Freightways for 10 years. He drove for California
Co-Operative Creamery and retired after 24 years, during which time
he received numerous safety awards. He enjoyed his grandchildren,
loved to fish, and developed farming skills in his vineyard. He was
a member of Sebastopol United Methodist Church, where he served as
a trustee and as an usher. Jack’s family wishes to thank the Gold
Ridge Fire Department and American Medical Response Unit 718 as
well as the capable and caring staff of the ICU at Palm Drive
Hospital for their skill and professionalism in caring for Jack.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, Jan. 16, at 2:30 p.m.
at the Sebastopol United Methodist Church, 500 No. Main St.,
Sebastopol. Donations may be made in Jack’s name to Heifer
International or Habitat for Humanity.
