A member of the local Buchignani clan and familiar face in the Healdsburg wine industry, Yasuko “Suzie” Buchignani, passed away earlier this month at age 79. Here’s the story of Suzie’s life, from her obituary: “She was born on March 9th, 1945 in Fukuoka, Japan. She arrived with her mother in San Francisco in 1949 @ the age of four. Growing up in San Francisco, she then took a job for Harper Robinson, an import/export broker. There, she met her husband Ken. They married in 1968, living in San Francisco, where their daughter was born. A few years later they moved to Healdsburg, Ken’s hometown. Suzie worked in the wine industry for 30 years, retiring from Marietta Cellars in Geyserville. She was known for her love of cooking and hosting family & friend gatherings.” Suzie’s loved ones are planning to hold a celebration of life for her later this summer, according to her obituary.
