Longtime Healdsburg and Windsor resident Terry Kilmer, known by some as “Kooter,” passed away last month at the age of 73. He was originally from Oklahoma, and was beloved by his many family members and friends for his “Okie” charm, according to his obituary. In the late ’70s, Terry was reportedly working for Haliburton as a diesel mechanic when he was transferred to Healdsburg to serve as “shop foreman.” More from his obituary: “Eleven years later, while residing in Geyserville, he left Haliburton to work for Healdsburg and Geyserville School Districts mechanically maintaining buses. In 1992, he landed his dream job with the California Highway Patrol. He worked 26+ years as motor carrier specialist, along with a short stint on the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).” Terry and his wife of 39 years, Mary Kilmer, had one daughter, Janelle, who died “unexpectedly in her sleep” a few years ago. A celebration of life for Terry and Janelle will be held on the evening of April 21 at Charlie’s Restaurant at the Windsor Golf Club.
