Bill Domenichelli, a prominent member of Healdsburg’s local Domenichelli clan — and the Engelke clan, by marriage — has died of a “sudden illness” at age 71, according to his obituary. Bill grew up with seven siblings on a prune ranch in Healdsburg, and met his wife Patty Engelke while attending the local junior high. At the high school, “Bill played football, basketball and baseball and was awarded the Greyhound Award in his senior year, the top athletic award for HHS,” his obituary says. He and Patty married a few years later — and got to celebrate their 50th anniversary before he died. As a young man, Bill worked at his dad’s “masonry construction company, Domenichelli Masonry, alongside his brother Stan,” his obit says. And “in later years, he enjoyed teaching the business and working with his children, Stephanie and Dan. As he built his business and raised his family with Patty, he became more involved in the community. He coached Pop Warner and Little League. He volunteered in many local organizations including the American Cancer Society’s local Relays for Life as well as others, fundraising for his children’s schools and activities and providing masonry services for projects at St John’s School and Church, the City of Healdsburg, the Healdsburg Museum and more.” Bill’s funeral will be held this Friday morning at St John’s Church, with a reception afterward at the church school gym.
