Well-known local businessman Barry Steele reportedly passed away last month. TheĀ former owner of the Fairview Inn & SuitesĀ at the south end of town “died unexpectedly” at age 81 “on the land he loved in Geyserville,” his obituary says. More from the obit: “Barry ‘Like a Strawberry’ Steele was born in Hollywood, CA with a rebel spirit… . In 1972 heĀ traveled north in search of a better lifeĀ for his young family that brought him to Healdsburg, CA. As a local businessman, he owned and operated the Fairview Motel with his wife Mary for over 20 years. During his retirement, he enjoyedĀ showcasing his many hot rodsĀ at classic car shows throughout the Bay Area. He started home brewing at the beginning of the local craft beer movement in the mid 1980’s. Barry designed hisĀ dream home overlooking Alexander ValleyĀ and cherished the view daily.” (Legacy.com)
