In response to the unprecedented disaster which has affected the community so deeply, the Sonoma Humane Society is launching charity veterinary services for pet owners who have suffered financial loss in recent fires and need assistance to care for their pets. Services are limited to basic wellness care and urgent fire related injuries.
The wellness clinic will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Urgent care is available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Humane Society will continue to provide these services as long as the need exists and resources allow.
The Sonoma Humane Society’s Santa Rosa facility is located at 5345 Highway 12 West. Enter through the spay/neuter lobby.
Services are first come, first served and may include: vet exam, vaccinations, flea preventative, de-wormer, microchipping, treatment for basic infections, wound care and other basic urgent care. Treatment is provided as funding and resources allow and is at the discretion of the veterinarians.
Each veterinarian will make a determination about the best treatment for each animal and may suggest referral to another veterinary clinic based on the severity of the case. Some treatments may not be available. The charity clinic is not able to address orthopedic, medical or surgical issues that are not urgent in nature or provide overnight care.
Charity veterinary services are offered to pet owners who have suffered financial loss in recent fires and need assistance to care for their pets. Stray animals will be treated at the Sonoma Humane Society’s shelter hospital.
