The Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is hosting a contest this holiday season for both local businesses and local shoppers. Thirty-three stores around downtown have decorated their windows and will compete against each other for the most votes from window shoppers.

“This is a new event for us,” said Carla Howell, Executive Director of Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. “We wanted a different way to promote the stores for the holidays. They all work so hard at making their windows interesting and beautiful and sometimes in our haste we don’t take the time to see them. We also want people to see how wonderful and diverse the local shops are and think about supporting locally owned businesses.”
The contest runs through Christmas Eve, and the winning business will get “bragging rights, a plaque and photo in the Healdsburg Tribune,” according to Howell.
But the businesses aren’t the only ones potentially taking home a prize; an Instagram contest is also taking place. Visitors can post a photo of any of the participating businesses with the hash tag #GetDowntownHBG for a chance to win gift certificates to downtown Healdsburg shopping.
“Posted photos will be judged by engagement,” Howell said.
