The planning process will officially begin tonight for a new, “multicultural” wellness center here in Healdsburg. “We are thrilled to share the exciting news that we are beginning work with our partners for the development of a vision for a Community Wellness Center,” local nonprofit Corazón Healdsburg wrote in their latest newsletter. “Led by the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County, fueled by a $285,000 grant from Providence, and together with our partners, we’ll be kicking off a community convening and visioning process for residents of Healdsburg to explore the potential for a multicultural Community Wellness Center.” It all starts with a session tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Healdsburg Community Center. Corazón writes: “What do you think a multicultural center could and should look like in Healdsburg? Join us for a conversation this week to share your vision! … Space is limited so please call our team at 707-615-4567 to let us know you’ll be there and reserve your spot.” The running name for the new center has been Nuestra Comunidad Sana, or “our healthy community.” When officials from the Healthcare Foundation first announced it last month, they said they see Healdsburg’s future wellness center as a “safe, vibrant, green, community space of belonging” where locals can seek help for their health and well-being. “Moreover, the project advances the recommendation of the City of Healdsburg’s own recent [Diversity, Equity & Inclusion] report,” foundation officials said, “which pointed to the need for a multicultural community center for residents.” Two sister centers are also being planned to our north and south, in Cloverdale and Windsor.
