Tina Lloyd Meals as Dolly and Steven Kent Barker as Horace in Hello, Dolly!

The Raven Performing Arts Theater cannot wait to perform Hello, Dolly!
Widowed and brassy Dolly Gallagher Levi hits New York in 1890 with a blare, a blast, and a boom as she arrives to practice her trade of meddling, matchmaking, dance instruction, mandolin lessons … and the list goes on.
Join her as she schlepps a diverse brood through Yonkers and Manhattan, as twists and turns interrupt various potential liaisons (picture switched wallets, fibs, and night court!).
Hello, Dolly! is a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. The play was first produced on Broadway by David Merrick in l964, winning a record 10 Tony Awards.
This show has become one of the most enduring musical theater hits, with three revivals and international success. A string of prominent actors have played Dolly – Carol Channing, Ginger Rogers, Martha Raye, Betty Grable, Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller and Ethel Merman.
The play was made into a movie in 1969, winning three Academy Awards. But all was not jolly during the filming of Hello, Dolly! Sparks flew between Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau – not in a good way. Matthau detested Streisand, refusing to be anywhere near her except when required to do so by the script. He repeatedly told Babs that she had no talent.
In the final scene, Matthau kisses Streisand. But not really. He refused to put his lips on her, so the camera angle was changed, and his face was several inches from hers.
Follow our Dolly (Tina Lloyd Meals), as she frolics, romps and sings her way into your hearts.
Propped by stunning stage settings, gorgeous costumes and superb crooning, you will leave the theater smiling – and, perhaps a little toe tapping.
The play will be at the Raven Performing Arts Theater, 115 North Street in Healdsburg, from June 19 through July 12.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 seniors 65 and over, and $10 for students with ID.
