Healdsburg vintner Peter Paul has put up $50,000 toward the
purchase of a new tractor truck to help deliver food to people in
need served by the Redwood Empire Food Bank of Santa Rosa. The new
truck will pull a $40,000, 48-foot refrigerated trailer Paul and
his Headlands Foundation donated to the REFB two years ago.
Paul is former Marin County mortgage broker who bought Grove
Street Winery in Healdsburg in 1999. He is a philanthropist through
his own Headlands Foundation, and raised the funds on behalf of the
food bank at a recent mortgage brokers conference the foundation
sponsored in San Francisco.
David Goodman, executive director of REFB, said he hopes to
raise an additional $45,000 to complete the purchase of the new
tractor truck by the end of the year.
Low flow benefit
The Russian River “No Low Flow” campaign will host a benefit
concert on Saturday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jenner Playhouse
featuring nationally known jazz guitarist Julian Lage. The
16-year-old Lage, who is from Santa Rosa, has peformed with Carlos
Santana and Herbie Hancock. The concert tickets are $15. For
