A garbage truck flipped on the freeway just south of Healdsburg on Friday morning, according to the Santa Rosa office of the California Highway Patrol. Thankfully the CHP says the garbage-truck driver only suffered minor injuries. Northbound lanes near the Arata exit were reportedly closed for more than three hours, through around 2pm, while crews cleared the wreckage. Neighbors reported on Facebook that side roads like Old Redwood Highway, Los Amigos and Limerick Lane were super backed up during that time as well!

And now for the good kind of garbage dump. Healdsburg’s Community Services department posted the pic below on Facebook last week of the heaping compost pile in Badger Park, along with a reminder for residents: “Did you know that Badger Park Community Garden has one of the county’s free compost hubs? The compost hub, in collaboration with Zero Waste Sonoma, is stocked with compost which is free to all Sonoma County residents. The hub is located to the east of the garden, located at 750 Heron Dr … Bring your own shovel, bucket(s), and supplies!”
