Healdsburg High Looking for New Principal

Healdsburg High School is replacing its principal, Francisco Manriquez, after just one year in the role. I have zero information about why Principal Manriquez is leaving. All I know is that the Healdsburg Unified School District quietly posted a job recruitment flier for his position early last week. “The Healdsburg Unified School District is now hiring for high school Principal at Healdsburg High School for the 2024-2025 school year,” district officials wrote on Facebook, next to the flier. Manriquez stepped into the principal role at the beginning of the current school year, after two years as assistant principal at HHS under previous principal Amy Jones-Kerr. At the time, he was applauded by the district for his commitment to “English as a Second Language” students and the high school’s athletics program. (Manriquez a former P.E. teacher, Spanish teacher and wrestling coach.) For what it’s worth, his former boss, Amy Jones-Kerr, only lasted one year longer than him in the principal role. She came to HHS in 2021 from the somewhat beleaguered Roseland Public Schools district down in Santa Rosa. Before that, Bill Halliday served four years as HHS principal after a long stint at the junior high. Anyway — if there are any local education leaders out there who aren’t too spooked by the apparent curse of the HHS principal’s chair, the deadline to apply for the role is March 29.
