Parade, music, sales, food
Healdsburg will be Irish for a day next Saturday, from dawn to dark on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.
The celebration begins with the annual B&B Lounge parade. The B&B, Costeaux Bakery and John & Zeke’s bar will all open at 6 a.m. for those who are hungry or thirsty and parade participants will form up in front of Sanderson Ford (453 Healdsburg Avenue) at 7 a.m. before meandering down Healdsburg Avenue, circling the Downtown Plaza and returning to the 400-block of the Avenue.
Members of both Healdsburg Rotary clubs will be at Costeaux. For a donation, Rotarians will paint your hair green for the parade and the day, with proceeds going to the charitable work of Rotary.
Those who want to stretch their legs can meet at Healdsburg Running Company (333 Center Street) at 6:30 a.m. for a fun run, followed by joining the parade.
The annual spring sidewalk sale, hosted by local merchants, continues that day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Friends of the Healdsburg Library book sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Kids are encouraged to meet at the Plaza at 11:45 a.m. for a short “fun run” around the Plaza. A Celtic concert starts at noon in the Plaza, sponsored by the Healdsburg Center for the Arts. A Celtic band (Tempest) will play and Irish step dancers will perform.
Noon is also the start time for the fifth annual “Drink for the Dogs,” a benefit for Green Dog Rescue to be held at Healdsburg Bar & Grill from noon to 9 p.m. Terry Savastano will play traditional Irish folk music and HBG will offer food and drink specials.
Spoonbar at h2 Hotel will serve Irish coffee, cocktails, shepherd’s pie and green eggs and ham, with portions of the proceeds to benefit the Healdsburg Education Foundation, from 5 to 8 p.m.
If you aren’t stuffed from the B&B corned beef and cabbage (served at 1 p.m.) or the John & Zeke’s corned beef and cabbage (served at 4 p.m.) try the St. John Catholic School corned beef and cabbage dinner, which includes Irish dancing, auctions and raffles, benefiting the fifth grade outdoor science program.
